How long do most hummingbirds live?

Most hummingbirds live for a few years, with some species living up to around 10 years in the wild. However, the average lifespan of a hummingbird is shorter, typically only a few years. Factors that can affect a hummingbird’s lifespan include predators, disease, accidents, and environmental conditions such as weather and availability of food. Some species of hummingbirds have longer lifespans than others, with the Anna’s hummingbird and the Costa’s hummingbird being known for their relatively long lifespans. In general, hummingbirds are small, active birds that have high metabolism and need to eat frequently to maintain their energy levels. This can make them vulnerable to predators and other hazards in their environment.
